I have been teaching music to children and adults for over ten years. I enjoy and play all sorts of music and am particularly fond of folk, blues, rock, and bluegrass. As a child I studied the piano and have since developed a passion for stringed instruments. I currently play guitar, dobro, lap steel, and mandolin as well as some accordian and percussion.

As a professional, I am the multi-instrumentalist in the Portland based band, WEINLAND. My band has received lots of praise in the last two years and we have even had coverage in USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, Paste Magazine, and on iTunes! With WEINLAND I have toured around the country meeting and playing with musicians from every corner of the lower 48, and I bring the best parts of that experience to my lessons. I am also lucky enough to guest with many other Portland acts and have played on several records in the last two years..

I am a college graduate with a background in social-work and counseling. I worked with troubled youth and families for six years before transitioning to the life of a full time musician. Through this I have learned how to teach and work with all kinds of people. I enjoy teaching children of all ages, and have had a lot of success working with kids and music.

I believe in building lessons around the individual student. This allows the lessons to remain fun while growing an understanding of the instrument. I work with any style of music the student is interested in. Together we can achieve whatever goals we set for you.

I teach in the comfort of your home. I prefer a casual and fun atmosphere and am happy to hear your suggestions, goals, and ideas... Your lessons are about you and making the most of your experience, and we'll work together to make it great.


For the Portland Metro area: I charge $40/lesson and lessons will last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour.

For outer Portland communities (Beaverton, Tigerd, Oustide 82nd ave) I charge $50/lesson. The additional cost covers travel time/expensis.

I ask my students to provide advanced payment for four lessons at a time. I am not able to schedule make up lessons if cancelled by the student, however I do schedule around holidays and anticipated vacations. Of course I am also flexible within reason.
